Arkansas Highway 352: Clarksville to Ozark

Arkansas Highway 352 - Clarksville to Ozark | Drive America

Take a drive with us across 18 miles of rural Arkansas charm as we follow Arkansas Highway 352 west from Clarksville to the outskirts of Ozark. This route is a quiet alternative to Interstate 40 and offers a peaceful look at the rolling foothills and farmland of Johnson and Franklin Counties.

We begin our journey by turning onto AR-352 from U.S. Highway 64 on the western side of Clarksville. The road quickly guides us away from the hustle of town and into open country. Within the first few miles, we cross over Interstate 40 twice — a reminder that while the interstate hums along nearby, this older state highway offers a more relaxed pace for travelers who appreciate taking the scenic route. The landscape transitions between tree-lined stretches and patches of farmland, with occasional glimpses of distant hills that hint at the Ozark foothills to the north.

South of the small community of Hunt, AR-352 intersects with Arkansas Highway 164. Here, we briefly jog south along AR-164 for just a few dozen feet before picking up AR-352 again to continue our westward drive. This short overlap is typical of rural state highway networks and gives drivers an easy option to link with other local routes. As we settle back onto AR-352, the road rolls gently through more fields and woodland edges. This part of Johnson County is dotted with small homesteads and a few working farms, so it’s not unusual to share the road with the occasional tractor or to spot cattle grazing alongside the fences.

After about 10 more miles on AR-352, we arrive near Ozark, a historic river town known for its proximity to the Arkansas River and its ties to the Boston Mountains region. Just north of Ozark, we reach the intersection with Arkansas Highway 219. This marks the end of our drive along AR-352, but travelers can easily continue exploring by heading north on AR-219 into the lower slopes of the Boston Mountains or south into Ozark itself, where you’ll find riverfront parks, historic downtown shops, and local dining spots that showcase true Arkansas hospitality.

Whether you’re using AR-352 as a scenic backroad to avoid interstate traffic or simply looking for a leisurely weekend drive through rural Arkansas, this highway rewards you with pastoral views, light traffic, and a welcome break from the faster lanes.
