Drive America’s Highways for 13 miles west along the former alignment of Interstate 30 from North Little Rock to Little Rock, Arkansas — filmed prior to major reconstruction. 💎
We begin this archived view turning onto Interstate 30 from its eastern terminus at Interstate 40 in North Little Rock. Heading south, we quickly reach the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Broadway Avenue) before crossing the Arkansas River into downtown Little Rock.
Just across the river, we pass the now-modified interchanges for Arkansas Highway 10 (Cantrell Road) and Interstate 630. Continuing southeast, we reach the older configuration of “malfunction junction,” where I-30 meets both Interstate 530 and Interstate 440 at a complex and often-congested interchange just southeast of downtown.
From there, we follow the westbound lanes of the original I-30 configuration, passing University Avenue and continuing through midtown before ending the video at the interchange with Interstate 430 in southwest Little Rock.
While the route remains a critical artery through central Arkansas, the highway and its interchanges have undergone significant upgrades in recent years — this footage provides a snapshot of how the corridor looked before those changes.
