Interstate 155 is a relatively short but significant auxiliary route of Interstate 55, serving as a connector between the states of Tennessee and Missouri. Stretching approximately 26 miles, I-155 is notable for being the only direct Interstate link between the two states, crossing the Mississippi River via the Caruthersville Bridge.
The route begins at I-55 near Hayti, Missouri, and travels eastward across the Mississippi River into Tennessee, where it terminates at U.S. Route 51 in Dyersburg. This four-lane highway is an important corridor for regional commerce and travel, particularly for communities in the Missouri Bootheel and northwest Tennessee. Its role in connecting U.S. 412 and U.S. 51 makes it a key artery for truck traffic and agricultural transport.
Built in the late 1960s and early 1970s, I-155 also carries the unsigned designation of U.S. Route 412 for most of its Tennessee segment. Its bridge crossing—the Caruthersville Bridge—is a steel through arch structure and one of the few major Mississippi River crossings in the region, serving as a critical infrastructure point for the area’s economy and mobility.
