Arkansas Highway 10 from Booneville to Danville treats us to a 33-mile drive through some of west-central Arkansas’s most charming rural communities and rolling valley scenery. We kick things off by merging onto Highway 10 from a handy service stop on the west side of Booneville. Within minutes, we’re gliding through Booneville’s main corridor — a stretch lined with local diners, fast food joints, and essential stops, all bookending the intersection with Arkansas Highway 23 right at the heart of town. Once past the familiar line of big-box stores, including a local Walmart anchoring the outskirts, we leave the town hustle behind and settle into a classic Arkansas country cruise.
Heading east out of Booneville, Highway 10 quickly carries us past the Booneville Municipal Airport, a small but notable landmark for local flyers. Soon enough, we approach Magazine — a tight-knit town known as the gateway to the valley below the state’s tallest peak, Mount Magazine. Here, we briefly cross Arkansas Highway 109 before rolling through Magazine’s few blocks of homes, churches, and small businesses. Not far ahead, the route reveals one of its signature highlights: expansive views of Mount Magazine itself. For miles, this towering backdrop stays off our left shoulder, giving the drive a subtle mountain feel without ever really leaving the valley floor.
Our route continues straight east through the peaceful hamlet of Waveland, where a quick cross with Arkansas Highway 309 south points adventure-seekers straight toward the peak and its renowned state park. Not much later, we roll into Havanah, another small dot on the map but the key turnoff for AR-309 north — the more scenic climb to Mount Magazine’s visitor center and lodge. Sticking to Highway 10, we press on through open stretches of farmland and woods, eventually reaching Belleville. It’s a quaint village that many folks consider the edge of the greater Danville area. We pass AR-307 and keep on heading southeast through a spot called Corinth, just a small bend in the road but another sign that we’re closing in on Danville proper.
As we reach Danville, Highway 10 intersects with AR-27 north. We swing south here, rolling right through downtown Danville — a compact cluster of small shops, municipal buildings, and a handful of historic structures that echo the town’s role as a local hub. Before wrapping up, we turn east again onto Highway 10 just south of the Petit Jean River, marking the end of this easy-going valley ride.
