Arkansas Highway 341: Push Mountain Road – Big Flat to Norfolk

Welcome aboard as we wind our way through one of Arkansas’s most legendary motorcycle and sports car roads: Push Mountain Road, officially designated Arkansas Highway 341. This 25-mile stretch from Big Flat to Norfork isn’t just a route — it’s a rite of passage for anyone who loves tight corners, sweeping mountain curves, and secluded Ozark scenery.

We kick off this adventure at the southern tip of Push Mountain Road, where AR-341 begins at its junction with Arkansas Highway 14, just a stone’s throw east of the quiet community of Big Flat. Right from the start, this road wastes no time showing us what it’s made of — nearly continuous curves that twist and roll through the heart of the Ozark Mountains. If you’re riding a motorcycle or behind the wheel of a nimble coupe, expect to shift your weight or tap the brakes more than a hundred times as the road dances across ridgelines and hollows alike. There’s hardly a straight mile in sight, which is exactly what makes Push Mountain Road such a favorite for locals and road trip pilgrims alike.

As we carve our way north, the scenery never disappoints. Dense forests close in along the roadside, opening here and there for glimpses of rugged hills, hidden streams, and the occasional rocky outcrop that hints at the ancient geology beneath our tires. You won’t find many gas stations or distractions along this stretch — and that’s the point. Push Mountain Road is all about the journey, pure and simple. After about 20 miles of this rollercoaster ride, we approach Salesville, just north of Norfork. Here, the route flattens out as it crosses the storied White River, a beloved spot for trout fishing and river floats. A few hundred feet later, Push Mountain Road ends at its T-intersection with AR-201. We wrap up our drive by turning south toward Norfork, ready to swap stories about one of Arkansas’s finest hidden gems.

If you’re seeking a true Ozark thrill with mile after mile of pure curves, Push Mountain Road delivers every time — just keep your eyes up and your hands steady.
